Make a memory box for someone special
Add a name, a date, or the details of a special day to a box or book they'll keep for years.
A memory box keeps the small things that matter: a hospital wristband, first drawings, tickets, cards and photos. The wording is what makes it personal, so this guide is mostly about choosing it. You supply the box or book, and Bessie Boo makes the decal.
There isn’t a finished memory box in the shop, so this one is a project to make yourself.

The two listings have the same options and description, with different example photos. Choose either.
You’ll supply
- A memory box, memory book or album with a smooth, clean surface for the decal
- A tape measure
- The keepsakes to go inside
These aren’t sold with the decal.
1. Check your box and measure the space
The decals work best on a smooth, clean surface. If your box or book has a textured or fabric cover, message Fliss through Etsy before you order to check it’ll work.
Measure the space where the decal will go. The sizes run from 10cm (2 words only) through squares from 12x12cm to 20x20cm, or a custom size. The listing suggests allowing at least 5cm per word.
2. Choose the words
Some ideas, taken from the listing photos and descriptions:
- For a new baby: their full name, date of birth, time and weight.
- For achievements or schoolwork: “[Name]‘s Achievements”.
- For adventures: a family name and a place or year.
3. Choose a border, font and colour
The listing photos show the border options in groups: leafy wreaths, flowers, simple frames, butterflies, and autumn and Halloween designs. The Christmas message decal has its own Christmas borders. There’s a font list and a colour chart too.
In the personalisation box, give the font and colour code you’d like, for example “G18 – Black”, and your wording. If you don’t choose, the decal is made in G18 gloss black. Check every name and date carefully, because the decal is made exactly as you type it.
